Triathlon

Took a day off today. Thought about running, but then didn’t. I”m going backpacking/camping tomorrow for the weekend so I’ll be back Sunday. Should get a good workout in!

I’m excited because even though I didn’t place super high in the overall triathlon (from a week or so ago) I came in first for the run stage of it. Which I hoped I would do best in since it’s what I do the most training in.  Doesn’t hurt that I really pushed myself when running it, even though it was my last event.

Maybe I should start calling this Triathlon instead because I do want to do one ultimately, but I’m not signed up for any yet. I’ve been trying to get some swim workouts in though.

Swam: 15 laps x 25 yd pool = 375 yds.

Time: About 21 minutes. Idiot me hit the reset instead of the restart button when I swimming underwater. I stopped it in the middle because I did a few laps running side to side in the shallow end.

Run/Walk 

I ran 1 lap of the Abington XC trail (1 mile?) then walked it briskly with Angela. Then ran it again on my own. I timed the running parts of it.  So..

Distance: 2 miles (not counting the walk)

Time: 22:24 (not counting the walk part)

And…….I did the usual Wednesday night mini bootcamp class. We did some divebombers, planks and other “fun” stuff. And sprinted a few times toward the end.

Another 3.1 miles today.

Time: 30:31

Distance: uhh…3.1 miles.

Also did my usual Monday night “mini boot camp” class. (Basically 45 minutes of different calisthenics-good exercise though).

I really hope tomorrow is warm enough that I don’t wear too many layers when I start running and then get too hot 1 mile into the run and have to leave my top layer on the corner of the street where I’ll see it on my return route. In other words—it better be warm enough so that I only feel the need to wear a t-shirt and shorts and sunglasses!

Between yesterday’s busy day and today’s utterly crappy weather I took a day off today. I just couldn’t make myself go out in the 40 degree rainy weather.

Originally I was supposed to teach some tennis and then go rock climbing later in the afternoon, so I was totally unprepared mentally to go run anyways. Then both those activities got rained out and I just wasn’t up for it. I checked the forecast and at least tomorrow is supposed to get into the 50s.

I ran twice today.

First I ran one mile at the Mt Vernon Cemetery/XC Trail with the Meetup Group (well ahead of them, most were walking it). Then I felt bad running while everyone else walked (I know, it should be the other way around!) so I walked the 2nd mile with them. By the time we finished it was definitely raining pretty well and I needed a ride home from someone, so I came back to my house. 

 Then I ran 1.16 miles so I actually ran 3 miles today. 

 Not too mention, Angela got a way different distance when she used the pedometer. I didn’t think our strides were that different but maybe they are. Also, I wore the pedometer on the 2nd lap of the trail and got 1.35 but I am just going to assume it is really a 1.1 mile loop because my legs weren’t that tired when I ran it the other day so I doubt that it’s 1.6 or 1.3 

Onto the actual times and distances (such as they are):

Distance: 2.1

Time: 24:11

Distance: 1.16

Time: 13:57

Oh and I also did some weight lifting for about 45 min? when I got back….Hey it’s Friday night, what else am I gonna do?

Ran the trail today. It’s only 1 mile I found out, so I did it twice and it was 2.1. I should have done it 3 times but I was getting bored of the scenery. That will be my goal for tomorrow.

Distance: 2.1 miles

Time: 24:59.

No run today! Oops.

I walked (at a pretty good pace) probably about 2 1/4 miles or so marking a trail for a trail walk/run on Friday.

Then I went to the mini-bootcamp fitness class. Actually I picked a good day not to run because we spent a good amount of time doing speed/agility drills with a ladder.
