I did some interval training where I jogged and then sprinted, off and on.
About .5 miles in 5:42.
I was also wearing new sneakers (Reebok RBK walk/runnr). I think the toe might be too narrow, and the laces were definitely too short. I’ll make some adjustments today to see how they work out.

What a crappy weather day. In the 30s and drizzling. I still ran though (yay for me.)
Distance: 1.9
Time: * I kind of spaced out and forgot to start my watch until about 3/4 mile into the run, so I am just guessing for 23:00. (Watch said 16:12).

Almost at 2 miles. Now I just need to get up to 3.1. I tried listening to an audiobook today, but it just wasn’t happening. The concept is great, but I just didn’t like the book. It was much too lyrical and hard to follow while running. Note to self: find some light beach reading material to listen to instead.

Jobs
I’m finally getting some job interviews. Even though I’ve been on the hiring end, when you’re on the applying end it seems so long in between sending in the application and hearing about the interview.
Wish me luck!

Getting there….I really wish it would be a little bit warmer. What happened to global warming?

I finally ran today. I didn’t run Friday or Saturday. Friday I did all sorts of organizing and painting projects around the house. Saturday was way too windy. I did go for a really short run on Sunday morning, but I didn’t time it or check the distance.
So for today’s run:
Distance: 1.6 (I really think I need to reset the stride distance on my pedometer).
Time: 20:29

Way too windy to run today. I would have gotten no where. Instead I painted my mom’s fireplace grate (it was brass and didn’t match the stone behind it), cleaned up the glass panes in it, and helped her clean out a bunch of closets.
I definitely need to make myself run tomorrow.
Happy Birthday Mom!
(even though the day is over)

Not my best running day, but I still went out there and run. It was a short one though because I just wasn’t feeling it, even after I started running. I also did a different route but that didn’t help with the running blahs.

I’m really proud of myself because I went running today even though I REALLY didn’t want to. Cold, yucky, rainy—and I still went out and ran! ( I don’t mind running in the rain, it’s cold rain I don’t like. Basically cold anything.) I don’t know why I live in New England!
Distance: 1.41—-> which is odd because I ran the same route yesterday and...

What Keeps You Running? →
Here in Massachusetts, it was in the upper 30s (F) today. Personally, I hate running in cold weather. I really enjoyed running in Cuba this summer when it was in the mid to upper 80s. Today I found an awesome article that I am going to pick my favorites out of to print up into a booklet whenever I am not motivated to run, especially because of the weather.

I finally made myself run again. It was still cold (in the 30s) and windy, but at least it was sunny. I can’t wait for it to actually be warm enough to run in shorts and a t-shirt instead of 20 layers of clothing + gloves. It actually did feel good to exercise again though.
I also did my 100 pushups today for the Pushup Throwdown contest. Today is the...

I have a confession: I didn’t run today. Sometimes I don’t plan my day very well. This morning’s started off raining, snowing, and sleeting. I started off by cleaning out my file cabinet which I meant to do yesterday. Then it was lunch time and I was hungry, so I ate lunch. Lunch consisted of a hamburger on a plate with some leftover baked beans. As I was eating, I remembered...

Today was a rest day for running. I did about 30 minutes of a horrible exercise video and then gave that up because I am REALLY bad at figuring out the steps. I did jump around a lot and kept my heart rate up but that’s really about it. Directly after that I played Wii Sports for about 15 minutes, making sure to jump around and be active.
Not totally related, I found something called the...

So Many Books, So Little Time
I have so many books I want to read, and there are so many more out there that I don’t even know about yet that I’ll want to read. Here is just a small sampling of books on my to-read list. Any thoughts on what order to read them in? I usually try to alternate between fiction and non-fiction, but don’t concentrate on any one topic for more than one book. Or would it be better to...

Applying for Jobs
I don’t mind all that much applying for jobs. What gets to me is filling the same information out on applications, over and over again. Why can’t companies just adopt a common application like the common college application? Then if you have specific questions you want, add a separate form. But please stop making me fill out the same information and trying to fit international phone...

Distance:+ ? I forgot to actually put the pedometer on until about halfway through my run. I’d estimate it was about 1.3 miles though.

5K Update
In the spirit of accountability, I’m going to start posting my running times and distances here each day:
Distance: 1.33 ( I use an omron digital pedometer)
Time: 18:04:87 (Armitron digital watch/chronometer)
I know I’m pretty slow right now. I’ll build up speed once I get the entire distance run, i.e. 3.1 miles.
Here in Massachusetts it’s about 30-40...
Free stuff
Today I stopped by my aunt’s house where her and my cousins were cleaning out her house, getting it ready for an open house to sell it. I left with a new plant stand, a vcr (to transfer a few vhs to dvd), and a nice little keyboard that I can set to play rhythm and fill-in chords as a background for playing guitar. I was happy because I’d been considering buying a plant stand and...
North and South →
When I think see a movie/series titled “North and South” I usually think of the American Civil War, but this movie is actually a romantic drama about differences between northern and southern England in the 1850s. I just finished watching it and it was great. Fabulous score as well.

I signed up to run this for two reasons: 1) I really need to get active and I figured that this would be a good motivator and 2) My younger sister’s friend’s mom had a fatal aneurysm a few years ago so it’s an cause that I try to support. If you want to donate directly to the Brain Aneurysm Foundation please go to http://www.bafound.org/donate.php . The race is currently...
